The Excursion

Suited to the academy theme 2010 the participants were invited to a one day excursion to the Benedictine Abbey of Einsiedeln to explore questions of collective living and communication within the monastic community.

A guided tour included the baroque abbey, The Lady Chapel with the Black Madonna and the abbey library. A very open and profound insight into modern monastic life and its structures was given to the participants in a discussion with Father Urban Federer.
After enjoying refreshments and a glass of wine from the abbey’s vineyard, the participants were stunned by the beautiful countryside along the St. Benedict path. Before returning to Berne the group had dinner at the Landgasthof Seeblick in Gross.
