Anna Witt studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich in the studio of Asta Gröting and Magdalena Jetelovà and Performative Sculpture in the studio of Monica Bonvicini in Vienna. She lives and works in Vienna.
Working with performative intervention and video installation, Anna Witt’s practice deals with the construction of cultural stereotypes and the individual’s positioning within social systems. Her works ambivalently sit between fictional re-enactment and documentary staging and represent the problematics of subject formation in relation to identity politics, collectivity and citizenships rights.
