Övül Durmusoglu is a curator and writer living between Berlin and Istanbul. Language, translation, music and cinema have shaped the way she understands and exercises her practice. Since her participation in the Critical Studies post graduate program at Malmö Art Academy, Malmö (2005–2006),  she has been curating and writing on an independent professional level, including self-organized activities and institutional collaborations with different local and international organizations in Germany, Turkey, Austria, Italy, USA and the Netherlands. In 2007 she was awarded the Premio Lorenzo Bonaldi Young Curators Award for her Data Recovery project GAMeC, Bergamo, and in 2010 she received a Rave Scholarship to work on a collaborative project of the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (ifa), Stuttgart and the Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart. Currently, she is a Goethe Institut fellow at Maybe Education and Public Programs of dOCUMENTA(13).
