The Rorschach Test Is Not a Rorschach Test: On Writing the First Biography of HR

Damion Searls has written the first biography of Hermann Rorschach, together with a cultural history of the Rorschach test and its inkblots (forthcoming in 2015/2016). His talk will briefly discuss Rorschach’s life but focus on the common rise of abstract art and modern psychology in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and on how the Rorschach inkblots work visually. The Rorschach test is not in fact “a Rorschach test” where you can see whatever you want to see.
